About the Internship:
In the summer of 2023, I worked as one part of a multi-faceted media production team for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Communications Department. While working under our supervisor, Dr. Mark Piwinsky, we were able to tackle multiple projects. The University’s multi-media team, The Swoop, is responsible for creating original photography, videography, graphic designs, and stories for local entities. This production team serves the Indiana County local community, non-profit organizations, and others. Most work takes place on campus in Stouffer Hall, one of the communication’s buildings. Dr. Mark Piwinsky serves as the site supervisor and the main point of contact for clients.
I served as the site coordinator and was responsible for communications between the production team and our clients, scheduling field-shoots and production meetings, writing scripts and storyboards, and organizing the crew during the pre-production, production, and post-production processes. I served as the lead editor for many of the video productions, as well as a camera operator on all of our shoots.
